Homemade veggie oil conversion system

Our DIY Vegetable Oil Conversion System for the VeggieGen consists of two 55 gallon steel drums. The first drum, the veggie fuel tank, receives filtered oil from the filtration system. and has a coolant heated radiator sitting near the bottom, connected to the VeggieGen's radiator hose connections (parallel), plus a 2kw 220vac electric water heater element with thermostat for quicker switchovers. A sight glass will be mounted on the drum to determine fuel level. A 6 port electric motor driven fuel selector allows us to select between the veggie tank, and the (bio)diesel tank (the second drum). The excess fuel from the injectors returns to the WVO tank.

POLLAK® MOTOR-DRIVEN FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE

For fuel-injected systems operating up to 65 psi. Designed to prevent returning fuel to incorrect tank. Weatherproof fiberglass-reinforced nylon valve body. Valve grounds to frame. Meets or exceeds DOT standards. Fits 3/8" I.D. fuel hose. Recommended fuse: 10 amps. Can be wired so original dash gauge indicates fuel level in either tank. Tuthill Fill-Rite Gear Pump — 12 Volt, 3.5 GPM

Gear pump transfers kerosene, motor oil, gear oil, lubricants and diesel fuel at up to 3.5 GPM with 1/2in. hose barb inlet and outlet. 12 Volt motor draws 10 Amps. Features brass pump housing, strainer, 30-minute duty cycle and battery power cable.

3 String-Wound Filter Cartridges

Cotton with Type 304 Stainless Steel Core — 1 3/32" ID x 2 1/2" OD. 100, 50, and 20 micron.

Mini PVC/Stainless Steel Suction Strainer

Maximum Temperature: 140° F Connections: NPT female. Mesh size: 80 (170 micron) When space is restricted, these small corrosion-resistant strainers get the job done. They have a Type 304 stainless steel screen molded to a black PVC top connection.

3 Bottom-Load Thermoplastic Single Filter-Cartridge Housings

These units are made of lightweight, corrosion-resistant thermoplastic and have four 3/16" dia. mounting holes in the head for easy installation. Housings accept double open-end (DOE) cartridges. Connections: NPT female. Polypropylene housings have a Buna-N O-ring and a pressure release valve to relieve internal pressure when changing cartridges. Glass-reinforced nylon housings have a Viton O-ring to withstand higher temperatures.
