Permaculture - Permaculture is a form of landscaping that strives to create a naturally balanced ecosystem that feeds the gardener's needs while being self-sustaining. The method takes edible landscaping a few steps further: not only does it feed the gardener, it's goal is also to provide fuel, materials for shelter and home, and habitat for livestock. Native plant species are used whenever possible and when they are not, species are chosen for their compatibility with the local environment.
PhotoVoltaic - Sun powered electrical generation. The solar cells that you see on calculators and satellites are photovoltaic cells or modules (modules are simply a group of cells electrically connected and packaged in one frame). Photovoltaics, as the word implies (photo = light, voltaic = electricity), convert sunlight directly into electricity. Once used almost exclusively in space, photovoltaics are used more and more in less exotic ways. They could even power your house. How do these devices work?
PowerPoles A type of electrical connector, recommended as the standard for low voltage DC connections in renewable energy and off-grid systems. For more information, see the Anderson PowerPoles page.
