The Winter Garden
It’s 15F outside, and there’s a few feet of snow on the ground. Our hankerings are turning to fresh salads, as the stuff at the grocery store is very anemic and not very nutritious. Our good friend Nathaniel has been developing some very cool hydroponic growing systems for those in cold climates, or with out space for regular gardening. Even if you live in a temperate climate, and have garden space, this might be a good alternative. Check out his video and website at http://www.easiestgarden.com/.

Professionally, I'm an IT Engineer (Executive Level) and Electronics Tech. Philosophically, I'm a Green Conservative, leaning towards Libertarian, and may have been a hippie in the 60's if I had been old enough. I live off grid, with Solar (PV), Wind, veggie oil fueled diesel generator power, veggie Chevy Suburban and have been teaching and living sustainable technology for over 10 years.

I was intrigued by the website:
http://www.easiestgarden.com/
and Nathan has a package of three designs so I bought them:
Complete Gardening DVD Pack – ALL THREE SETS! $67.95
Placed the order late on the 27th (well after business hours) and they
arrived this morning.
I have not had time to dig into the designs but each DVD comes with a
pamphlet describing the project and these are very clearly written and easy
to understand. Clever designs too — the guy has spent a ___lot___ of time
scratching his head and trying out different setups until he found something
that would work reliably with minimal hassle-factor. He gives alternates to
try if the ‘book’ design will not fit your needs.
I am swamped right now so will probably not start building for a couple
weeks but based on what I have seen, I would say that these are an excellent
value for the money. Two thumbs up!!!
Thanks for the tip Steve!

I also have the set of DVD’s with workbooks. The information is amazing, the detail is sufficient to recreate, and I look forward to year round veggies. The sound quality needs a bit of work, but is in the process of being redone. The camera used did not have a external microphone, but that is being rectified. I highly recommend this resource.
